And if you knew where to look, How would you get the gold out of
the ground? "
Members of the Arizona Prospectors' Association will be at
the museum to answer your questions.
Equipment demonstrations - commercial and
easy to make equipment used to separate gold from sand.
Gold Panning (guaranteed gold in every pan!)
[ small fee required ].
"Shoot" with a metal detector.
Perhaps you'll be lucky and find a gold nugget
(guaranteed treasure each time) - [ small fee required ].
Special Dealer Event
In conjunction with Arizona Prospectors Association and the Museum, the
Maricopa Lapidary Society members have invited several mineral, rock art,
jewelry, findings and bead dealers from Arizona.
They will be open to the public and selling on the
mezzanine especially for Prospectors' Family Day.
Craft Demonstrations - gem faceting, sphere
making, inlay, wire wrapping, carving, cabochon making.
FREE - jewelry making for children.
FREE - children can make a pet rock or refrigerator magnet.
FREE - mineral samples.
If you have a favorite rock or mineral you
can't identify we will be glad to tell you what it is.
Arizona Leaverite Gem and Mineral Society - Egg Carton Program
For $1 pick an egg carton and fill it with your favorite rocks, minerals, or fossils.
Proceeds from this activity are generously donated to the Museum's Education Program.
Come downtown and enjoy the day, see beautiful minerals, shop,
learn how important minerals and rocks are to your everyday
lives, and train to be a prospector in gold country.
